EarthSurf was created by Jennifer Stone Gonzalez. About ten years ago, Jennifer noticed sea glass sparkling in the surf in Barbados and began to collect it with her husband, Luis. She became interested in creating eco-jewelry with sea glass after reading about the harmful environmental effects of industrialized silver and gold mining. Her challenge was to find a way to present sea glass in the most natural way possible -- as if it had just been found on the beach. After years of trial and error -- and lots of feedback from family and friends -- Jennifer developed the unique EarthSurf designs. Jennifer creates EarthSurf eco-jewelry in Grand Isle, Vermont (one of the small islands in Lake Champlain).
EarthSurf is different because they use all-natural materials: sea glass, hemp cord, hand-dyed silk, and leather and a tiny amount of mined silver or gold. Instead of metal clasps and findings, they use sailors' knots to finish their pieces. Women's pendants are strung on handmade silk strings. Each silk string is hand stitched and hand painted. The paint is ecologically responsible, non-toxic and safe. The silk strings are pre-washed, and will not fade. If worn in water, the color will not bleed or run. The surfer bracelets and necklaces feature genuine leather.
A portion of the EarthSurf Eco-Jewelry profits go to the SurfRider Foundation, a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world's oceans, waves and beaches. You can wear EarthSurf proudly, knowing that you are helping to conserve our environment.
Made in Grand Isle, made in Vermont, made in the USA jewelry.
