Maybe it was my stylist's prediction a change of hair color toviolet may open up a new creative direction, the recent stumbling intoa cache of amazing vintage ornaments, or just the three cups of strongcoffee I'd had that evening... as I stared at the birdy pic in my room, trying very unsuccessfully to invoke sleep...violet magpie wasconceived. Since forever, I've had a passion (ok, maybe kind of anobsession) for collecting one-off finds at flea markets, antique andthrift shops, estate sales and my grandmother's pretty jewel box. As agirl I loved hours spent on grandma's cozy bed with my sister trying onone sparkly trinket after another, eagerly checking out our transformedreflections in the mirror inside the lid. The huge apple green daisynecklace with matching earrings, flowery scarves, gold filigree ringsand bangles with colorful stones, and voluptuous pearl strands. Thejewelry pieces sold through Violet Magpie are primarily vintage as is. Check back soon for vintage jewelry combined and embellished!

Thehair ornaments are something that sort of came on a whim as I wascommissioned to create a feathery piece for a friend based on a vintagepin I'd used on a band for myself. The ideas continued to evolve towhat you see today... I am inspired by nature, travel, artist friends, most vintage fashion- especially 1940's and 50's Hollywood glamour, andthe hauntingly beautiful smells, sounds, tastes and textures andbrilliant color of the changing of seasons.

Myhope is that you too will feel wonderfully beautiful and comfortable asyou rock and share your one-of-a-kind finds from our store. I welcomethe opportunity to create custom pieces as well.
