Sweet Magnolia Creamery Goat Milk Soap
Covesville VA 22931
My story begins with two goats and a new way of life. I had been a city girl for about a decade when my husband and I decided to move to the Virginia countryside. Living on a farm and caring for livestock was unfamiliar ground, but the territory was intriguing, so a few years ago, after having my boys, I bought two goat girls and learned to milk them. I figured the fresh raw milk would be good for our family, and hoped that, as a side benefit, caring for "the girls" would be personally rewarding for me.
Three seasons later, my love for these amazing animals, and the work I do here on our farm, is greater than I could have ever anticipated. The herd has grown, the milk has multiplied, and over the past season I have embarked on a new challenge with a little help from "the girls" - learning to make goat milk soap.
Again, the benefits have been twofold. I love the process of hand-making a product using the pure milk from the goats that I feed and nurture. The final result - cleansing my skin with a beautiful bar of handmade soap after a long day of mothering, milking, and mucking - is satisfying as well.
Now, I look forward to sharing a piece of my new endeavor, and our farm, Highland Orchard, with others.
