GREEN EFFORTS:

Anchor Hocking has been in the business of manufacturing glassware products for more than 100 years.

As befits a company with Anchor Hocking's heritage, they have continued to produce quality glassware throughout the decades. They manufacture the majority of their products in Lancaster, Ohio, a town of some 35,000 people located 33 miles southeast of Columbus. In fact, their current factory sits on the site of their very first one. They are as emphatic about the quality of their products today as they have always been – proud of the design and of the value they represent for consumers, foodservice and the commercial sector, and the fact that you will find them in the kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms of most every American home.

But there is one way in which Anchor Hocking has changed in recent years, and that is the corporate-wide commitment they have made to become a more environmentally friendly company.

It is an initiative they view as being vital to the future, and they're taking many positive steps to make it happen.

"¢ Consider that they currently reclaim on average 25% of their waste glass to reuse in their furnaces. That means fewer raw materials, less energy and less landfill waste.

"¢ They are also making changes in the design of their packaging to reduce environmental footprints.

"¢ Anchor Hocking's Supply Management Team is working with core suppliers to reduce waste and consider environmentally friendly alternatives.

"¢ Glass has "natural" advantages. The primary ingredients of glass are sand and limestone, which come directly from Nature.

"¢ Conservation is a fundamental benefit of glass. It's reusable.

"¢ Anchor Hocking glassware does not contain lead or any other materials that are harmful to your health.

Environmental integrity matters to you and at Anchor Hocking they are proud to say it means just as much to them.
