Sonic Fabric Apparel and Accessories
New York NY 10011
The invention of Sonic Fabric was inspired by the use of small strands of cassette tape use as wind indicators, or "tell-tails", used on sailboats, and by Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags inscribed with wind-activated blessings. In addition to the "Sonic Shaman-Super-hero" garments, Alyce also creates Sonic Fabric banners, scrolls, and strings of nautical-style flags.
Sonic Fabric is not only strikingly beautiful and durable, it is also audible: the sounds contained in the weave can be revealed by drawing a tape head over its surface. It has the texture and feel of a light canvas with a mysterious sheen. In addition to being incorporated into the conceptual artworks of its inventor Alyce Santora, Sonic Fabric also functions in a wide range of interior and fashion design.
Sonic Fabric is woven at a family run textile mill in New England. All of our sewing is done by hand in New York City. Yardage in several solids colors is available for shipping immediately.
