Greenway Farms - Woodbine
15101 Frederick Road
Woodbine MD 21797
Greenway Farms got its start as a landscaping business run out of our backyard in Baltimore back in the 1960s. In 1970, we moved to our farm in Howard County. We have now been running our Greenway Farms greenhouses and Christmas tree farm in Howard County for nearly 40 years.
A Christmas tree takes 7-10 years to grow, depending on the species. Growing trees is actually a year-round activity with planting new trees and pruning in the spring, fertilizing and mowing all summer long. Drought and deer can be frustrating. We now have about 20 acres planted in trees, but they are in various stages of growth. Christmas trees are truly a “green product” and a renewable resource with new trees planted every year to replace the ones that have been harvested.
Poinsettias are planted in our greenhouses in early August and require careful attention until December.
Greenway Farms is truly a family-run local business operated with help from friends and neighbors. Our son, Michael, now handles most of the day-to-day business during the Christmas tree season.
