Wen Chocolates was founded in 2003 by Chef William Poole and Loren Penton. The word "WEN" comes from the ancient Egyptian language, is symbolized by the hare, and translates into the English "to exist". They felt this was an appropriate name for this venture as their concept is to use modern techniques to honor the ancient methods of chocolate making. All Wen Chocolates confections are created using the freshest ingredients available and natural aromatics. All of their chocolates are produced by hand, no machinery is involved. Each truffle is created in small batches individually filled and decorated. Their molded products are created using antique molds from the late 19th and early 20th century. They do not add additional sweeteners, stabilizers, or preservatives to their chocolates, and because of this their chocolates have an extra life span than many chocolatiers.
